Ruby rents eight sizes, from a 10 sq ft locker to a 200 sq ft unit, and every unit is 8 ft high. Below, each size is drawn to scale with its floor plan, volume and what it realistically holds.

Four things that change the size you need
Dismantle what you can
Beds, tables, desks and flat-pack wardrobes take far less room in pieces. Our team can dismantle and reassemble on request.
Use the 8 ft height
Heavy, sturdy boxes at the bottom, light ones on top. Mattresses and mirrors stand on edge against a wall.
Plan for access
If you will take things out during the rental, keep a walkway and put what you need most near the door. It costs some space.
Measure the big pieces
Sofas, wardrobes and dining tables decide the minimum size. Measure them, and check anything longer than 7 ft.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the smallest storage unit?
A 10 sq ft locker, 2.5 × 4 ft and 8 ft high. It holds suitcases, archive boxes and seasonal bags, but not furniture.
How do I know which size I need?
Start with your largest furniture, count your boxes, and decide whether you need to reach things during the rental. The [storage calculator](/storage-calculator/) does this for you, or send us photos or a short video and we recommend a size in writing.
How many boxes fit in each unit?
Roughly the unit's volume divided by the box volume, less space for gaps. A 50 sq ft unit takes about 100 medium boxes on their own; mixed with furniture, far fewer. Each size below shows an estimate.
Does dismantling furniture really save space?
Yes. Beds, tables, desks and flat-pack wardrobes packed flat take noticeably less room than assembled. Our team can dismantle and later reassemble furniture on request.
Do I need a walkway inside the unit?
Only if you plan to take things out during the rental. A walkway costs floor space, so a unit you will not open until move-out can be packed tighter.
Can I change size later?
Yes. You can move to a bigger or smaller unit whenever one is available.
